Superior Court convenes Monday

A dozen cases are listed as potential priority cases when Bartow County Superior Court convenes Monday.

Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Rosemary Greene released this week a list of criminal cases for Judge Shepherd Howell and Judge David Smith’s courtroom expected to sound first.

For Howell’s court, the following — in no particular order — are priority cases for jury trial:

• Dustin Edward Sale — four counts of child molestation.

• Logan Clifford Abernathy — possession of methamphetamine.

• Mn’Yueni Yhuamya Jackson — aggravated child molestation and four counts of child molestation.

• Robert Sigman — two counts of aggravated assault.

• Donald Strickland — aggravated sexual battery (special presentment), aggravated child molestation, aggravated child molestation (special presentment), attempted aggravated child molestation (special presentment), two counts of child molestation, cruelty to children in the first degree (special presentment), simple battery (special presentment) and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

For Smith’s court, the following — in no particular order — are priority cases for jury trial:

• Christopher Edward Lary — homicide by vehicle in the first degree (special presentment), three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.

• Gary Cicero Vick — crossing the guard and dangerous drugs sale, distribution, possession of dangerous drugs.

• Robin Wayne Pittman — habitual violator, failure to wear seat safety belt and failure to appear.

• Melissa Sue Gentry — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of tools for commission of crime, possession of cocaine (VGCSA), possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (VGCSA), pills not in original container and possession of drug-related object.

• David Michael Jones — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of tools for commission of crime, possession of cocaine (VGCSA), possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (VGCSA), pills not in original container and possession of drug-related object.

• Korisha Dranan Curtis — driving while license suspended, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, operating a vehicle without insurance and failure to wear seat safety belt.

• Ian Preston Gaskin — driving under the influence, hit and run, failure to maintain lane and violation of limited driving permit.

• Michael Anthony Gosnell — theft by deception and theft by receiving stolen property.

• Carl Robert Lankford — possession of amphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

Court convenes at 9 a.m. Monday in Smith’s courtroom B and Howell’s courtroom A at the Frank Moore Administration and Judicial Center, 135 W. Cherokee Ave.
