The man involved in a high-speed chase Tuesday after allegedly robbing a Calhoun bank confessed to both the incident at BB&T on Ga. 53 and to a Friday armed robbery at the Adairsville branch of Bank of the Ozarks, according to a Calhoun Police Department news release.

Craig Robinson, 28, of Atlanta, allegedly entered the BB&T in Calhoun around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, producing a handwritten note that demanded money. Adairsville Police Department investigators Friday said the robber brandished a gun and verbally demanded money during the hold up of Bank of the Ozarks on Ga. 140.

Robinson was apprehended Tuesday when Georgia State Patrol troopers performed the PIT maneuver on his vehicle. The black Pontiac Grand Prix came to rest in a ditch between Interstate 75 and the Ga. 20 exit ramp.

According to police scanner traffic, an off duty police officer spotted Robinson and authorities were alerted to his whereabouts. He is suspected of taking undisclosed amounts of money from both banks.

Calhoun police say Robinson was interviewed by federal and state law enforcement authorities in addition to Calhoun and Adairsville police departments detectives. Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies also assisted in the chase.
