Suspicious package found at Adairsville bank

All available law enforcement is on stand-by after a suspicious package was found at United Community Bank in Adairsville.

A large blue suitcase found outside the bank, located at the intersection of Ga. 140 and U.S. Highway 41, was called in to police. All precautions have been taken due to its location between a bank and the Adairsville Post Office, a federal building.

Interim Adairsville Police Chief Robert Jones confirmed that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is on the scene.The post office and surrounding buildings have been evacuated.

Law enforcement is working to ensure the safety of residents and motorists in the area, therefore, traffic will be affected in the area.

Jones voiced further concerns concerning the upcoming anniversary of 9-11.
