“This agreement is a restatement of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Shaw, Bartow County and Adairsville,” Taylor said. “It stipulates things like the number of employees and an adoption of bonds to help pay for the land.”
The 600,000 to 700,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space will be built on 117.6 acres near the intersection of Highway 140 and Hall Station Road in Adairsville. Construction begins in 2014. Shaw is Bartow’s largest employer and runs six facilities in the county, including another carpet tile manufacturing facility in Cartersville.
In other commission news, Taylor approved a resolution granting property to the Georgia Department of Transportation for planned road improvements at the intersection of U.S. highways 41 and 411 and approved an agreement with GDOT for improvements to Glade Road.
The next county commission meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Frank Moore Judicial and Administrative Center.
