"What happens is the Earth and Venus and the sun are perfectly lined up and Venus is on this side of the sun," said David Dundee, astronomy program manager for Tellus. "So we'll see a little black dot going across the sun if you have the proper filter to look at the sun. So the safest way to view this is to come to Tellus, of course. We'll have small telescopes set up, and we'll also have images streaming from our observatory into the museum so that you can sit in the air-conditioned comfort of our theater and see the transit take place.
