A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched Friday morning to 121 Point Place Drive, Cartersville, after a young man had been seen suspiciously running through the complex with a black duffel bag. As the officer arrived, the complainant ran out waiving his arms. He said the subject was running away. The officer gave a “be on the look out” to dispatch and all other units in the area.
The suspect, Austin Blackmon, dropped the duffel bag after being pursued by the complex’s maintenance worker, according to the incident report. After speaking with a resident who found his back window open and valuables from his home missing, the officer retrieved the bag containing $1,800 worth of items.
A warrant was issued for Blackmon for burglary.
