On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to congratulate Cartersville resident Thomas P. Bishop, general counsel for Georgia Power, on his recent appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the state's Judicial Nominating Commission.
Our state will benefit greatly from the experience and expertise Mr. Bishop will bring to this position of statewide leadership. When judicial positions on the Supreme Court of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, Superior Courts and State Courts around the state become vacant and subject to gubernatorial appointment, the commission interviews nominated candidates and recommends a short list to the governor for his consideration.
All Georgia lawyers can appreciate and look forward to the continuation of the exemplary record of public service of Tom Bishop, which helps promote the cause of justice and upholds the integrity of the legal profession in our state.
