Two people fled a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon with one being apprehended.

A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a black 1996 BMW 323I near Sugar Valley Road for a window tint violation and a warrant for the registered owner, according to

the report.

The car stopped in a parking lot on Fairview Drive but the driver failed to comply with orders to turn off the vehicle. The passenger, identified as Stephanie Taylor Duffey, opened the door but the driver accelerated and attempted to flee.

The deputy pursued the vehicle onto Cassville Road before turning onto Grove Circle where the car stopped and both occupants fled. Both suspects ran down Ember Way where the deputy was able to apprehend Duffey when she fell. The driver, who Duffey said was her boyfriend, was not located.

Duffey was arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer.
