Wilson being inducted in state AD Hall of Fame

Charles Wilson, associate principal and former athletic director and coach at Cass High School, will be inducted into the Georgia Athletic Directors Hall of Fame in ceremonies Sunday in Savannah.

Wilson, Peggy Johnson of Savannah and Dr. Charles Webb of Statesboro comprise the G.A.D.A. Hall of Fame Class of 2013. The three inductees will become the 17th, 18th, and 19th members of the Georgia Hall of Fame in ceremonies at the Hilton Savannah Desoto Hotel.

Wilson is a six-time region athletic director of the year and was the 1999 class AAAA athletic director of the year in Georgia. In 2000, he was the all-classification athletic director of the year for Georgia and was the Nike/AWA national athletic director of the year.

Wilson, who assumed athletic director responsibilities at Cass in 1994, was appointed to the G.A.D.A. board of directors in 1995 and served as Georgia’s first leadership training initiative coordinator.

He served as a course writer and instructor for the National Federation of High Schools and National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association from 1995 to 2004 and taught other athletic directors from across the nation at national conferences in Kansas City (twice), Indianapolis (twice), New Orleans (twice), Louisville, Nashville, Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego.
