The Woodland Lady Wildcats overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat the Lassiter Trojans, 42-38, in a scrimmage game Thursday.

The Wildcats trailed 25-18 heading into the third quarter before rallying behind Kennedy Robinson’s 10 points and Brooke Hummel’s nine points.

Also scoring for Woodland were Katie Harris, eight points; Marissa DuBose, six points; and Ayrianna Metcalf with five points.

“We played with more intensity in the second half,” coach Colman Roberts said. “In my opinion, we won the game at the free throw line by hitting 28 out of 44 free throw attempts.”

Woodland’s girls officially open their regular season Tuesday at Northwest Whitfield.
