Woodland had little trouble defeating New Manchester Monday at home on Senior Night.

The Wildcats, however, do find themselves in trouble in regards to making the 5-AAAAA region playoffs.

“We were two games out of fourth place [in the region] before we played New Manchester,” coach Corey Gochee said. “In order to have any chance of making the playoffs, we have to win the remainder of our regular season games.”

That means defeating Allatoona Wednesday on the road and North Paulding Friday on the road as well.

“It can be done,” Gochee said. “We just have to play winning baseball the rest of the way.”

The Wildcats are 14-10 overall, 10-8, following their win over the Jaguars in which they scored six runs in the fifth.

Tyler Stringer was the starting and winning pitcher, while Mason Robinson led the Wildcats offensive attack by going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Teammate Chris Cuzzort contributed to the 13-run barrage by going 2-for-3 and driving in two runs.

Both games against Allatoona and North Paulding start at 5:55 p.m.
