Woodland’s coach Vince DiLorenzo and Villa Rica’s coach Mike Falleur are both in their second year as head coach of their respective football teams. While their teams are a combined 2-7 overall, 0-2 in Region 5-AAAAA for the season, and have suffered losses to South Paulding and East Paulding, both DiLorenzo and Falleur see tonight’s game as the perfect opportunity to move their programs in the right direction.

In order for Woodland to accomplish that task, and to have any chance of defeating visiting Villa Rica, the Wildcats will look to eliminate costly mistakes and “finish the job.”

Woodland (1-4, 1-4) has proven it can move the ball offensively, but when it comes to scoring touchdowns after entering the “red zone” then it becomes a different story.

Against South Paulding two weeks ago, the Wildcats had the ball inside their opponent’s 10-yard line twice and once at the 11-yard line only to come away with three points.

Last week, an interception stopped a Woodland drive that reached the North Paulding 10-yard line. Another drive had the Wildcats turning the ball over on downs at the Wolfpack’s 18-yard line.

“It’s all about focus,” DiLorenzo said. “We need to focus on every offensive play, and we need to focus when we do have scoring opportunities. That’s what it takes to finish the job.”
