Woodland had little trouble continuing its winning ways Monday as the Lady Wildcats beat visiting Cartersville 13-0 in a softball game.

By the end of the first inning, Woodland held a double-digit lead as Lady Purple Hurricanes' pitcher Julia Sheppard walked and hit a number of batters while her defense committed some untimely errors to extend the inning.

Cartersville held the Lady Wildcats, who used many of their substitutes, to three runs in the second inning and no runs in the third but, after the Lady Canes went scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, the game ended on the run rule.

Taylor Braselton hit 2-for-2 with an RBI for Woodland; Lacey Fritz went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs; Sydney Flowers finished 1-for-2 with an RBI; Cheyanne Burt went 2-for-2; Emma Hicks went 2-for-2 with an RBI; and Olivia Rutledge hit 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Tinsley Dobson's single provided Cartersville with its only hit for the game.

Casey Bucy earned the win for the Lady Wildcats, while Sheppard took the loss for the Lady Canes.

Woodland (16-3), which has won seven games in a row, hosts Class AAAAA's Cherokee Wednesday before playing in the Carrollton Invitational, at the East Carroll Complex, where they'll face Rockmart and Central-Carroll Friday and Adairsville, Paulding County and Carrollton Saturday.

Cartersville (0-8), still in search of its first win of the season, travels to play Pickens today and returns home for its final two games of the regular season against Pickens (Sept. 21) and LaFayette (Sept. 28).
