The Lady Wildcats won both doubles matches and two of three singles contests.
“It was a confidence builder for them,” coach Beth Heath said. “They needed that.”
She said Erin Marratta, her No. 1 singles player, also got an early look at the quality of tennis she will likely face in the region tournament later in the season.
Marratta fell 8-0 in her match.
“It was difficult for Erin,” Heath said. “She had not seen a player of that caliber this season. She probably last came across someone like that at Johns Creek last year. It was a tough day for her.”
At the No. 2 singles slot, Somalia Lewis won, 8-3, and at the No. 3 position Katie Abernathy won, 8-1.
Woodland 5, Lithia Springs 0
In other action, the Woodland boys tennis team defeated Lithia Springs, 5-0, to extend its perfect region mark to four games.
In singles play, No. 1 Dustin Dodson defeated Tanner Rowan, 8-0; No. 2 Brandon Rutledge defeated Clark Bergantinos, 8-2; and No. 3 Griffin Hale overcame Kim Bergantinos, 8-2.
In doubles play, No. 1 James Lester and Dominick Kim defeated Terrance Bergantinos and Kenny Kaious, 8-0; while in doubles No. 2
Grayson Roberts and Grant Barker overcame Jay Wilborn and Jeffrey Krukoski, 8-1.
