Emily Collum scored one goal and assisted another in an eight-minute span late in the first half as the Adairsville girls soccer team beat North Springs 2-0 Thursday.“They’re a 5A school, so they’re much bigger than us,” Adairsville coach Lance Hall said. “They were a very technical team, very disciplined and very technical.”
Chloe Cochran scored off a pass from Collum in the 32nd minute, before Collum took a breakaway and scored herself in the 40th.
“They man-marked us a lot, which we’re used to zone-marking, so that kind of took us a little bit to adjust to,” Hall said. “[We] finally had to change formations and that led to more offensive threats.”
That was enough for Lady Tigers goalie Havyn Isaac, who made six saves in the shutout win as Adairsville moved to 2-0.
“Our midfield really improved,” Hall said. “Lauren Stephenson, [head] coach [David] Sexauer said she had an awesome game and was a big difference in our play tonight.”
The Lady Tigers play next on Tuesday, when they host Darlington.
