According to the Georgia State Patrol, two Bartow County residents died Thursday in a three-vehicle wreck on Interstate 75 in Dalton.
Cody Angel, 23, of Rydal, and William Clegg, 36, of Adairsville, died due to injuries from the wreck.
According to a preliminary report from the GSP, Angel and Clegg were driving south on I-75 in the right lane in a truck with the words "Landscape Associates" on it. The truck "made an improper lane change" before clipping the tractor trailer in the center lane.
This impact caused the truck to "rotate counter-clockwise and travel into the left lane" where it was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado. Both vehicles stopped in the median with the Silverado on top of the vehicle Angel and Clegg were in.
The report said there were five people in the landscaping truck. Angel and Clegg were passengers, and the driver and two other passengers were all from Calhoun.
The driver was airlifted to Erlanger and the other two passengers were transported to Hamilton Medical Center. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured and the driver of the Silverado was injured but not taken to a hospital, according to the report.
The Daily Citizen reported that Whitfield County Coroner Greg Bates said Clegg's license had an Adairsville address, but it did not appear to be the correct address and that he possibly moved.
Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
