Facing the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A, the Adairsville High softball team had an upward hill to climb from the first pitch Wednesday in Tiger Valley.
Calhoun lived up to its lofty ranking, beating Adairsville in a run-rule shortened, five-inning game by a score of 13-0.
Calhoun scored in each of its five turns at the plate, scoring two in the first, four more in each the second and third innings, another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
Despite the loss, Adairsville still sits in a playoff position as the fourth team in the Region 6-AAA standings at 3-2 with three more region games to play.
The Tigers, now 6-10 overall, will face third-place Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe today at home.
