BGMSAA releases partial fall schedule

Posted

With another school year quickly approaching, the fall schedules for the Bartow-Gordon Middle School Athletic Association were released this weekend for football, softball and the academic teams.

All four county middle schools, as well as Cartersville Middle School, compete in the conference alongside Calhoun and Rose Bud middle schools.

The football season will kick off Aug. 23 with all regular season games being played on Thursdays through Oct. 4.

Playoffs will begin Saturday, Oct. 13, at Woodland with a triple-header.

The fifth- and sixth-place teams will face off followed by the two semifinals with the No. 1 seed facing the No. 4 seed and the second- and third-ranked teams playing each other.

The championship game will take place the following Thursday at the highest remaining seed.

As in football, the softball teams will face every member school once during the regular season, which begins Aug. 16.

Unlike its gridiron counterpart, the softball schedule fluctuates with games on every night of the week, save for Friday.

Sept. 19 marks the final regular season games of the year.

Woodland will host the league tournament the following week — Sept. 25-30.

Academic team matchups will take place on Tuesdays, except for Thursday, Oct. 18.

The season begins Sept. 4 and runs through Oct. 23 with the culmination coming in the form of the BGMSAA tournament — once again hosted this year by Woodland.

Schedules for the other fall sports — cross country and golf — will be released at a later date.
