Woodland basketball traveled to Carrollton and was swept in two games by the Trojans and Lady Trojans Tuesday.
The Lady Wildcats suffered a big loss at the hands of Class 5A No. 3 Carrollton, dropping their game 81-25.
Whitney Harris had 22 of Woodland’s 25 points.
“[Carrollton] is ranked No. 3 in the state for a reason,” Woodland coach Kyle Morgan said. “I’m proud of the kids for competing, and the way in which they played out of the half in the third quarter. Playing good competition is going to do nothing but make [us] better.”
The Lady Wildcats fell to 1-3, and 0-2 in region play.
As for the Woodland boys, they kept it close until the fourth quarter but ended up falling to the Trojans, 62-46.
Hunter Johnson had 11 points for Woodland. Connor Gallagher and Justice Carter chipped in with eight apiece.
The Wildcats led 12-11 after the first quarter and trailed just 26-21 at halftime and 40-35 after three quarters, but Carrollton’s 22-point fourth quarter was the highest-scoring of the game, and sealed things for the hosts.
Woodland fell to 1-5, 0-2 in region.
Both teams will be in action Friday to host Paulding, with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys game immediately after.
