Cartersville tight end Jackson Lowe earned Class 4A preseason all-state honors from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, as announced Monday.
The 6-foot-5, 232-pound Tennessee commit was the lone Cane to make it on the team. The rising senior is among the top-rated tight ends in the country, according to most recruiting services.
Last year, four Cartersville now-graduated seniors were on the preseason all-state team. This year's season begins with a Friday scrimmage at Dalton before the season-opener next week when Allatoona visits Weinman Stadium.
Defending state champion Blessed Trinity and Class 4A runner-up Marist led the way with four selections apiece. Meanwhile, one of Cartersville's biggest hurdles to retaining the Region 5-AAAA throne, Troup County and St. Pius had three players each tabbed.
The Class 5A honorees were announced last week with no Cass or Woodland players making the exclusive squad. Adairsville will learn if it has any representatives when the Class 3A team is released Tuesday.
