For the sixth consecutive season, the Woodland wrestling team is in the finals of the state duals.
The Wildcats won all three of their duals Thursday and Friday in Macon to set up a rematch today at 3 p.m. of last year’s state finals matchup between Woodland and Camden County.
Cass also has had a strong showing at state, going 3-1 to set up a consolation semifinals matchup with Allatoona today.
Woodland began its tournament as the No. 2 seed in Class 5A, and defeated Effingham County 57-18 in the first round. The Wildcats then took down Jones County, 53-18, in the second round. In the semifinals, Woodland defeated Allatoona by a score of 56-12.
Cass, meanwhile, came into the tournament as the Class 5A No. 5 seed and defeated Dunwoody, 35-25. Cass then lost a close one to Clarke Central by a score of 29-28 to send the Colonels into the consolation round. The following match saw Cass top Heritage, Conyers by a score of 49-18. In Cass’ final match Friday, the Colonels defeated Starr’s Mill, 47-18.
