CCBOE to consider trips, rental requests Monday

At Monday night's meeting, the Cartersville City School Board will consider approving some trips and rental requests for the school system.

In a work session that took less than 10 minutes Thursday night, Superintendent Dr. Marc Feuerbach recommended approving an overnight trip for the high school's Future Business Leaders of America members to attend the FBLA Fall Leadership Conference Nov. 7-8 at the Athens Classic Center and the  accompanying hotel in Athens.

Feuerbach also recommended approval for him to attend two conferences as a participant of the Schlechty Center Superintendent Leadership Network — April 24-26, 2019, location to be announced, and June 30-July 3, 2019, at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida.

"The Schlechty Center is a national organization in education," he said. "I was invited to participate in their Superintendent Leadership Network. It meets three times a year. Basically, it's a conference, a workshop, but in that, there's also field trips. You will go to different organizations … to learn how these organizations run and things of that nature."

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators will pay for Feuerbach's conference registration, air travel and lodging for each event, he added.

The superintendent also recommended ratifying a rental request for the Spanish enrichment program through OLA Language School to use the elementary school from Aug. 21, 2018, through May 20, 2019,  from 2:45 to 3:55 p.m. and for Crosspoint City Church to use the elementary school parking lot every Sunday between Aug. 26, 2018, and Feb. 24, 2019.

Board members will honor Mike Freeman from the maintenance department as the Matthew Hill-Michael Dean HEARTS Employee of the Month for September.

Freeman will receive a $50 gift certificate to Appalachian Grill from New Frontier of Bartow County Inc. and will have his name added to a perpetual plaque displayed in the central office board room.

The board's meeting Monday will be at 6 p.m. at the central office at 15 Nelson St.
