Emily Collum pulled off a hat trick to help Adairsville shut out Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, 6-0, in girls high school soccer play Tuesday.
Collum — who scored her team’s first three goals — tallied her first goal in the 10th minute off an assist from Kaitlyn Webster.
In the 21st minute, Collum scored again, this time when Aimee Pacheco crossed the ball in front of her and she tapped it in for a 2-0 lead.
In the 44th minute, Mac Stephenson scored off a corner kick from Katie Lawhorn, putting the ball into the back of the net for a 4-0 lead.
In the 58th minute, Aimee Pacheco made it 5-0.
Assistant coach Lance Hall said Haley Pittman closed out scoring when she turned 180 degrees and sent the ball into net.
“I guess the only way to describe it was she turned a 180-degree pirouette and somehow the ball went in,” Hall said. “I think the most surprised person on the field was Haley.”
The score came in the 62nd minute.
Pacheco also was praised for her offensive contributions.
“[Head soccer] coach [David] Sexauer said Aimee play well for us,” Hall said. “She got an assist and a goal, and coach Sexauer said she seemed to be in the right place at the right time all night.”
Adairsville improved to 7-0 overall while earning its first region victory of the season.
The Lady Tigers next play Coahulla Creek on Thursday. The two teams are to meet at 5:30 p.m. in another region game.
