For 4 1/2 innings, the seventh-place Cass High softball team matched second-place East Paulding run for run Wednesday in Dallas.
However, the Raiders scored five runs in the last two innings to take control and hand the Lady Colonels an 11-7 loss.
East Paulding scored two in the first inning, but Cass came back with a run in the second on a Jaden Musacchio RBI single, and then two more in the third on Kyle Hembree's RBI double.
But the Raiders responded with two in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth.
Even still, Cass wouldn't go away. The Colonels capitalized on an error and some timely hitting by Rachael Lee, Hailie Owens, and a two-run Musacchio double to tie the game at 5-apiece in the fifth.
That would be the last time Cass had the game even, however, as East Paulding scored two in the fifth and three more in the sixth to pull away.
Cass did get one run back in the sixth when Eryn Lee and Kelly Young hit back-to-back singles, but it would not be enough.
Cass, now 2-11 and 2-5 in Region 7-AAAAA, will travel to take on first-place Carrollton today on a quick turnaround.
