Fall Pub Crawl serves up seven establishments

Inviting the public to partake in a “time-honored tradition between friends,” the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority’s staff is gearing up for the Fall Pub Crawl. Featuring seven establishments, the two-day event will be presented from 5 p.m. Sept. 14 to the close of business Sept. 15.

“The Pub Crawl has evolved into a regular yearly event that people expect and look forward to as a fun way to socialize and get out of the house,” said Cartersville DDA Manager Lillie Read said, adding the Pub Crawl initially started in March 2014. “Originally a one-day event, a few years ago we expanded it to a two-day event because we have so many of our downtown establishments participating that we did not want people to feel compelled to drink beyond their comfort zone just to get the full value out of their ticket. With it being a two-day event, participants can take things at their own pace without feeling like they have to cram all seven stops into one evening.

“Our biggest goal is to host a fun event that people enjoy. We hope folks will take this opportunity to eat, drink and enjoy our awesome downtown. Everyone says it’s a lot of fun and a great date-night opportunity or just a chance to do something a little different with your weekend. Coming together over food and drink has always been a time-honored tradition between friends so this should provide an excellent opportunity to come downtown, see your friends and neighbors, and support our local businesses as well.”

Establishments taking part in the upcoming Pub Crawl will be Maine Street Coastal Cuisine, The Local Bar & Grill, Mellow Mushroom, The City Cellar, Table 20, Jefferson’s and Cohutta Fishing Co.

Tickets, costing $35, must be purchased online at http://downtowncartersville.org/product/fall-crawl-2018/. Individuals need to be at least 21 to participate.

“The way the Pub Crawl is formatted is pretty straight-forward,” said Hannah Surrett, Cartersville DDA’s marketing and promotions coordinator. “Participants need their punch card to get their free beers; however we are encouraging crawl-goers to use their 20-ounce silicone cups to drink their beers out of. Participants can go to whichever participating bar they please, and stay for as long as they would like. They get one free beer at [each] Pub Crawl location, but we encourage crawlers to hang around and grab some food while they’re out. They can hop around or stay in one place.

“It’s very self-directed. You don’t have to be a Pub Crawl [participant] to go around with other crawlers either. You just won’t get a free beer at the seven locations. The newest features are the differences in what a ticket gets you. Historically, we sell Pub Crawl T-shirts, but this year we’re doing 20-ounce silicone cups and bottle openers.”
