Janet Mansfield Smart, 62, of Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 4, 2018.
Born December 5, 1955, in Warner Robins, Georgia, she was the daughter of Robert Howell Mansfield and Helga Troeger Mansfield. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend.
Everyone who knew Janet saw her love for her family and friends. She was always a woman on a mission and relentless until it was accomplished. She loved big and always put others before herself, helping out in any way she could. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a 1974 Graduate of Cartersville High School.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Terry Smart; children, Lauren Smart Wilde (Benjamin) and Mallory Smart Adams (Kurt); parents, Robert and Helga Mansfield; brother, Marc Robert Mansfield (Terri); sister-in-law, Cheree Tapley (Terry); grandchild, Grant Robert Wilde; nieces and nephews, other relatives and her faithful four-legged companion, Tater.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at Athens First United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors following the service to celebrate Janet’s life in the church’s Hancock Hall.
