Lance Shane Walker, 18, arraigned Tuesday

Rydal man pleads not guilty to 9 counts of child molestation

An 18-year-old Rydal resident pleaded not guilty in Bartow Superior Court Tuesday to one count of aggravated child molestation and eight counts of child molestation.

Lance Shane Walker is accused by a grand jury of committing "an immoral and indecent act" with a child between the ages of 13 and 16 sometime between Sept. 15, 2016, and Dec. 16, 2016.

A bill of indictment alleges Walker — at that time, 17 years old — engaged in an act of sodomy with the child. Additional child molestation counts accuse Walker of kissing the child, exposing his genitals to the alleged victim, touching her "breast and primary genital area" and grabbing her buttocks at various points from August 2016 to May 2017.

An affidavit signed by Adairsville Police Department detective Joshua Lemming on June 30, 2017, states that Walker received oral sex from the victim, "which did result in physical injury to said child, with intent to arouse, satisfy the sexual desires of said accused."

According to that document, the aggravated child molestation incident occurred sometime between Nov. 1, 2016, and June 19, 2017, at 113 College St. in Adairsville.

Documents from the Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office indicate Walker posted bond — in the amount of $25,000 — in July 2017.
