The Adairsville High softball team broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a big 5-4 region win at Coahulla Creek Wednesday.
Adairsville entered the game tied for last place in the region standings, while Coahulla Creek was in second, and the win puts Adairsville ahead of Murray County for eighth in the nine-team Region 6-AAA.
Sierra Tanner hit the go-ahead two-run double with two outs, possibly the biggest hit of the season so far for the Lady Tigers.
It was her second double of the game, while Sadye Johnson had two hits of her own for Adairsville.
Victoria O'Neal got the start in the circle and delivered 5 1/3 innings. She allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits with three strikeouts before handing the ball to Taylor Rhoades. Rhoades allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh, but prevented the tying run from scoring to hold on for the win.
Adairsville is now 4-18 overall on the year, 2-10 in region play, and will next take on Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe today on the road.
