“Vacation is over, time to get back at it guys!” - Daddy

Carve your name on as many hearts as possible, not your tombstone. Your LEGACY is etched into the minds of others and all the stories they share about you.

Mr. Thomas Earl “Pop” Baker, age 58, of Old Highway 41, Adairsville, passed away August 23, 2018.

He was born in Cartersville, Georgia, September 3, 1959, son of the late Amos W. Baker and Ruth Shook Baker. Tommy was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and two years ago this past May, he retired from Lockheed Martin after 39 years to begin his new career as Full Time Pop. No truer family man has ever been, he loved his family with every fiber of his being. Pop could always be found somewhere outside, never out of earshot of his wife or grandbabies, finding something to keep him busy. You could always count on Pop keeping his place mowed to perfection, picking every stick in sight,  taking care of the never ending battle between him and the ant beds, having the freezer stocked with popsicles, the fridge filled with drinks, gas on hand to refill all the motors from the golf cart to the slip-n-slide pump and everything in between. His hearts desire was to always make everyone feel welcomed. He was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother, Nathan Baker and two brother in laws, Ronnie Overby and Ronald Abernathy.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Linda Williamson Baker of Adairsville; children, Natasha and Tom Johnson of Adairsville, Thomas and Autumn Baker of Adairsville, and Billy and Jessica Worthington of Adairsville.; grandchildren,  Sadye Johnson, Jett Johnson, Cole Baker, Finn Baker, Tifton Worthington, and Riley Worthington; brothers, Billy and Sybil Baker and Rev. David and Sue Baker; sisters, Janie and Joel Mauldin, Jeanelle Abernathy, Alice and Frank Ray,  Joyce Overby, Robin and Billy Guthrie, and Joyce Baker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 2:00 PM from Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverends David Baker, Ronnie Cowart, and Jason Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 Pallbearers include his nephews, Justin Baker, Michael Baker, Dewayne Abernathy, Shane Abernathy, Greg Mauldin, Joe Ray, Timothy Ray, Jermey Ferguson, Josh Ferguson, Burl Dye, and Lloyd Mayes Williamson, III.
