Tigers come up short against Jackets


The Adairsville softball team put up a solid fight but slumped to its fourth defeat in five Region 6-AAA games with a 3-1 loss to rival Calhoun on the road Monday.

Victoria O'Neal finished with one of the Tigers' two hits and also threw 5 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. Taylor Rhoades struck out a Yellow Jackets hitter for her only recorded out of the day.

Sadye Johnson picked up the other hit for Adairsville, which fell to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in region. Cortni Jacobs had the team's lone RBI and also laid down a pair of sacrifice bunts.

Adairsville returns to the diamond Tuesday at Haralson County. The Tigers' next home game will be Thursday against Murray County.
