Tigers feast on Phoenix pitching, 16-5


Adairsville won its second region game in a row by chowing down on Sonoraville pitching in a 16-5 road victory.

The Tigers improved to 3-1 in region play (6-4 overall) with their 11-hit performance Friday night.

Drake Arp drove in four runs and scored three while Hunter Hice also scored three runs.Scoring two runs each were Landon Howren, Lane Griffith, Hayden Morrow and Taylor Whitley.

Sam Seaman and Kyler Pelfrey scored one run each, accounting for all the Tiger scoring.

Seaman took the victory as the pitcher limited Sonoraville to six hits. He worked seven innings and three of the five runs he surrendered were earned. He struck out seven and gave up one home run. He also hit two doubles and drove in three runs to help his own cause.

Adairsville pushed three runs across in the second inning and held Sonoraville to two in the bottom of the inning. The visitors then took the lead by scoring a pair in the bottom of the fourth for a 4-3 lead.

Four runs in the fifth inning put Adairsville up by 7-4, and the Phoenix wrapped up their scoring in the bottom of the frame to trail, 7-5.

The Tigers plated three runs in the sixth and concluded their scoring with six runs in the seventh inning.

Sonoraville dropped to 1-3 in region play and is 3-9 overall. Easton Gallman took the loss, giving up seven runs, five of them earned.

Adairsville returns to the diamond on Tuesday when it hosts Ringgold in another region contest.
