The Adairsville boys and girls tennis teams dominated Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Monday afternoon in a home match, as the Tigers failed to drop a single set against the Warriors.
On the girls side, Adairsville's Megan Smith (6-0, 6-0), Madison Camp (6-2, 6-0) and Alexandra Kanturek (6-0, 6-1) all cruised in their singles matches. The doubles pairing of Olivia Long and Courtney Fricks produced a 6-0, 6-2 victory on Line 1. Meanwhile, Joie Bryant and Kayleigh Collum didn't drop a game on Line 2 to help the Tigers improve to 4-3 on the year and 3-2 in Region 6-AAA.
Jack Bates and Oak Hemby made quick work of their Line 1 and Line 3 boys opponents, with each rolling to 6-0, 6-0 wins. On Line 2, Cameron O'Neal fought through a first-set tiebreak for a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 triumph.
Landon Swanson teamed up with Cody Kimbrough for a 6-1, 6-2 win on Line 1, while Gideon Conant and Justin Baldwin picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win on Line 2.
The Adairsville boys moved to 3-4 on the season and 2-3 in the region ahead of Tuesday's road matchup at Haralson County.
Cass girls defeat Rome
Emma Wickenheiser overcame a 6-0 loss in the opening set of her Line 2 singles match to rally for a thrilling three-set win to send the Cass girls tennis team to a 3-2 victory over Rome Monday on the road.
Following the rough first set, Wickenheiser bounced for a 6-1 win in the second set and a 6-4 triumph in the third. Line 1 stalwart Emily Surcey waltzed to a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Line 3's Carlie Rideger picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Both Cass doubles teams lost, while the boys team went winless against the Wolves. The Colonels will return to action Tuesday against Hiram, with the girls playing on the road and the boys hosting the Hornets.
