William Harris Scoggins

Mr. William Harris Scoggins, 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

William (Dud) Harris Scoggins was born in Rydal, Georgia, to Henry Weldon and Ruby Lee Cornwell Scoggins on July 15, 1932. Many years later, Harris married his high school sweetheart Jane Willis. Throughout their 64 wonderful years of marriage, they were blessed with five children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with the upcoming arrival of two more.

Harris, a follower and servant of Jesus Christ, was a member (and former Pastor) of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church. Harris had the opportunity to bless 101 marriages and always spoke of his favorite scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Harris’s love for people shined through his community involvement working with Bartow County School System for 20 years, bailiff at the Bartow County Courthouse and serving as a Pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist, Olive Vine Baptist, and Carmel Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his spouse, Mary Jane Willis Scoggins; parents Henry Weldon and Ruby Lee Scoggins, siblings James (Pete) Scoggins and Max Scoggins.
