Woodland needs just 54 minutes to take down Coosa

After picking up a nice region win against Dalton Tuesday, the Woodland girls soccer team continued its strong play Friday.

The Lady Wildcats took home a 10-0 road win over Coosa, needing just 54 minutes to do it.

“It’s a good win for sure,” Woodland head coach Jonathan Cannon said. “We got some experience playing in different positions. It is always fun when you can score many goals.”

Madison Bennett scored two goals, as did Samantha Simmons, who put one in the back of the net with just eight seconds remaining in the first half. In addition to her two goals, Simmons added one assist.

MacKenzie Lanham, Jordan Evans, Molly Plott and Allie Moates also each had a goal in the first half.

Keri Cagle added one in the second half, while Kylie Knox scored on a penalty kick to end the game.

Esmeralda Hernandez and Amy Moreno secured the shutout in goal.

Woodland is now 5-6 overall. The Lady Wildcats will look to even their region record at 3-3 when they take on Creekview Tuesday at Woodland High.
