Cass High needed a fast start Friday to have a shot at upsetting Class AAAA's No. 7-ranked team and sending Earl Cunningham Stadium — its longtime football home — out in proper fashion.

The Colonels, however, fell behind by 21 points at halftime and a key fumble in the third quarter swung the game for the Cougars, who went on to a 49-14 victory.

In other local action, Cartersville and Adairsville picked up home wins — over Cedartown (31-6) and Model (40-14), respectively — while Woodland lost its home matchup with Northwest Whitfield, 28-18.
