Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Adairsville, she was the daughter of the late John Wilkes Boswell and the late Alice Hight Boswell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Hulon F. Elrod; her daughter, Sheila Chitwood; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Elrod had retired from EZ Mills after 22 years of employment. She was a member of Peeples Valley Community Church where she and her husband, Hulon, faithfully worked around the church and attended until sickness prevented their attendance. She also enjoyed ceramics and quilting. Mrs. Elrod was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cathy Chitwood of Kingston; her grandchildren, Wendy and Tillman Fricks, Adam and Kara Chitwood, and Connie Palmer; her great-grandchildren, Kelsey Hale, Kara Hale, Dean Fricks, Savannah Chitwood, and Brett Chitwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Pastor Larry Hufstetler officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Fricks, Roland Elrod, Tony Elrod, James Phillips, Tillman Fricks, and Jimmy Morris. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
