Mrs. Winnifred White McPherson, 82, of 117 Hotel St., Adairsville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome.

She was born in Lancaster, Ohio, March 6, 1928, daughter of the late Min. Edward Brooks and Mabel Wagner White. Mrs. McPherson had been a member of the First Christian Church of Adairsville since 1974 where she had taught Sunday School, worked with the children's programs and ladies' teas and retreats; she was also very active in each church where her husband ministered. She was employed at H & R Block for over 25 years and served on the Adairsville City Council from 1994 until 2003. Mrs. McPherson enjoyed sewing, was a voracious reader and loved taking care of her family.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Louis Henry, Joseph, Fred, Earl, William and Orville; and three sisters, Margaret, Freda and Katherine.

Survivors include her husband, Min. Philip J. McPherson of Adairsville, to whom she was married 63 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny Joann and Gary Walker of Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, John Brooks and Lois McPherson of Adairsville; two grandchildren, Heather and Larissa McPherson of Adairsville; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Connie of Canal Winchester, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Ginny White of Columbus, Ohio, and Claudis "Polly" White of Fostoria, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Church of Adairsville with Min. Fred Skinner and Min. Danny Pelfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.

Pallbearers include Richard Cowart, Wayne Abernathy, Anthony Alexander, Austin Stephens, John D. Hooker, Roger Bailey, J.C. Jarrett and Charles Freeman. Ronnie Self, David Melton, Mark Wheat and Don Bass will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home.
