City recreation all-star teams off to perfect start in playoffs

Cartersville Parks & Recreation Department all-star football teams won all three of their games against opponents from across Northwest Georgia in games played Tuesday.

10-and-under game

Terry Berdin led the Cartersville 10-and-under all stars to a 32-0 defeat of Gordon County with a two-touchdown effort.

Berdin scored on touchdown runs of 14 and 35 yards. Also doing the honors for the all stars were Dominique Williams, whose 48-yard score covered the longest distance of the evening; Ronald Dyer, who tallied one from 15 yards away; and Rodarrius Douglas, who found the end zone after a 3-yard run.

Jake Norris helped their cause by making a 2-point conversion.



12-and-under game

Cartersville got an easy 24-0 win against Dalton behind the two-touchdown evening of Trase Fezzia in 12-and-under play.

Fezzia scored on 48- and 59-yard runs. The Canes' final touchdown was made by Jogarius Erwin, who punched his way in on a 1-yard run.

Three two-point conversions for Cartersville were tallied by Antione Jefferson.

8-and-under game

The 8-and-under Cartersville all stars outplayed Whitfield for a 21-8 victory.

The Canes scored all three of their touchdowns after long-distance runs in earning the victory.

Jaylen Garnigan scored the team's first touchdown on a 48-yard run, while Bryce Henderson tallied one from 59 yards and Chris Davis from 62 yards.

Garnigan chipped in a one-point PAT while Brandon Inman converted a two-point PAT.

Whitfield's points came from a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
