The Bartow County Recreation Department's Under 12 girls all star recreation team advanced to the tournament, which kicks off in early December, by winning the District 5 soccer title in weekend play.
The U12 team defeated Pickens County, 1-0, on Saturday to earn their sixth title in a row with stellar defensive play.
The U12 girls' Chloe Davis scored a goal on Pickens County in the game's 15th minute. The Bartow team then prevented its opponent from scoring the rest of the way as its defense preserved the victory.
On Friday night, the U12 Girls had advanced to the title game by defeating Fannin County 2-1. Chloe Davis and Brighton McCollum scored the two goals for Bartow.
The U12 Girls will play in the state tournament at Columbia County on Dec. 3 and 4.
Other action
In other soccer action, the Under 10 Girls Bartow All Stars fell to Calhoun 4-1 on Saturday. Hannah Worley scored Bartow's goal.
Also, the Under 10 Boys lost a heartbreaker 2-1 to Cedartown in overtime with Leo Sanchez scoring Bartow's goal.
Meanwhile, the U8 Boys Bartow all stars will be in action in their district tournament against Gilmer County this week.
The two teams will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hamilton Crossing Park Soccer Field.
