’Cats survive drama-filled win over rival Adairsville

Woodland got its taste of high drama on Saturday night against Adairsville, winning by 41-39, and watching a late shot by the Tigers rim in and out.

"It was a good battle," head coach Mike Tobin said. "We did just enough to win.

Greg Murphy hit two clutch free throws for Woodland (5-1) in helping them claim the victory.

Xavier Niblet led the Wildcat scorers with 12 points while Jacquez McKay and Corey Tobin sank 7 each. Rj Williams added six points.

Woodland visits Rome on Friday night.

Sequoyah 83, Woodland 69

Woodland did better than hold its own everywhere but at the free-throw line Friday night, as it fell 83-69.

The Wildcats scored one more 3 and two 2-pointers, but Sequoyah went 28-of-40 in earning the victory.

Leading scorers for Woodland were Daryel Morris, with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, Greg Murphy, 14; Adam Tobin, 7; Chandler Royal, Xavier Niblet and Corey Tobin, 6 each. Rj Williams had 5 assists.
