Saturday night a city of Cartersville officer arrived at an apartment complex at 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway in reference to a fight.

The complainant stated that the suspect threatened to violently attack him with a baseball bat and managed to hit the complainant on his hand and eye when the bat was thrown across the room in an attempt to cause damage.

A witness stated that he overheard the altercation and saw the suspect pursue the complainant when both men left the apartment where the argument began. The witness had already called for assistance and tried to stop the suspect from fleeing the scene, sustaining injuries in the process.

The suspect was not present at the scene and no warrants were taken out for arrest. According to the report, the bat was recovered and all parties involved were intoxicated.

Couple's dispute turns violent

A Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to a domestic dispute Saturday involving a husband and wife at 35 Martha's Place.

The wife stated that she was attempting to sleep before she left for work, but her husband continued to annoy her, keeping her awake, after she had repeatedly asked him to leave her alone.

She claimed he held her down and pressed his elbow into her back, causing pain, but he later did not remember this action. After he left the room, the wife followed him and questioned him after a few moments had passed if he remembered hurting her. He denied the claim and she struck him with a belt, asking if the blow rekindled any memories.

The two continued hitting one another until he grabbed her by the neck and she decided to call for help. Upon her attempt to place the call, the husband broke her phone. When the officer arrived, marks were noticed on both parties, but the wife's phone worked properly when it was tested.

Mother, daughter disagree over money

Just before noon Saturday an argument between a mother and daughter at 4528 Scenic Mountain Drive required the involvement of a BCSO deputy.

The daughter, 22, demanded her mother give her the gift of her birthday money early so that she may go out over the weekend. After the mother denied the request, the daughter entered her mother's room, yelling and cursing, and allegedly wishing for her mother's death.

The mother attempted to remove the daughter from her room, but when the daughter acted as though she would hit her mother, the older woman left the room to begin filling out money orders.

The younger woman followed her mother to the kitchen and spilled Kool Aid onto the money orders. The mother then left the residence and called law enforcement before she returned home.

Upon the mother's arrival, the daughter proceeded to yell and curse at her mother, who again attempted to escape from the moment by retreating to her bedroom, but the daughter once again blocked her mother from being able to leave the room.

After several moments of continued arguing an officer arrived. No marks were seen on the mother, but the daughter claimed to have been grabbed by the chest and pushed away from the door. Marks were observed on the daughter's chest, but the officer was unable to determine if this was caused from the argument or the observation that the daughter was rubbing her chest while speaking to the officer.

After refusing to comply with the officer's demands, an arrest was made and the daughter was charged with simple assault under the Family Violence Act.
