Police involved in possibly fatal shooting

Emergency personnel were dispatched about 7 p.m. Thursday to 3 Lee St. in reference to shots fired.

According to reports, officers were attempting to serve a warrant when a man approached them with a hammer.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies and Cartersville police are on scene and have the area roped off as the search continues for a suspect described as a black male in blue jeans, wearing a red hat and gray jacket with a tattoo of a star on his neck. He is armed with a "long gun."

A source who was not authorized to speak on the matter said a suspect was shot, possibly fatally.
