A Bartow County deputy respond to 65 Maple Ridge Drive in reference to an armed robbery call that occurred.
Upon arrival, the employee said that he was familiar with one of the men. He said the men played on the poker machines and walked up to him while he was at the back of the room. According to the employee, the man known as "J.P.", pulled out a black handgun and said "Give me the money." The employee stated he gave him the store's money along with his wallet. He said the suspect grabbed the store's 18-gauge shotgun which was on the shelf and used it in the robbery. After getting the money both suspects left the store.
They are described as two white men, one was wearing a blue and white light colored jacket.
Woman arrested carrying a case of beer
A Bartow County deputy observed a woman walking along Tennessee Street on Wednesday afternoon carrying a case of beer. Upon checking, the female was identified as Vivian Carter. The deputy noticed a odor of alcoholic beverage on her and asked if she had been drinking. She stated that she had a drink around 9 a.m. The deputy had Carter perform the one-legged stand and nine step walk to determine if she was able to walk to her location. She also submitted to a breath test. The deputy said based on his observation she was unable to care for herself or personal safety. She was arrested and transported to Bartow County jail and booked for disorderly conduct.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
Due to front seat occupants not wearing seat belts, the Cartersville Police Department stopped a green 1997 Buick LeSabre traveling east on West Avenue at the intersection of Henderson Drive on Wednesday about 7:45 a.m.
After the officer entered the vehicle tag information, Julianne Payne -- the passenger and owner of the vehicle -- was found to have a warrant for probation violation and was arrested. She also was given a verbal warning for safety belt violation while the driver was issued a uniform traffic citation.
