Arrest made in recent Banana Boat robbery

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has charged two men in connection with an armed robbery which occurred last week at the Banana Boat Store.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Jeremy Starr Prather, 33, Cartersville, and Nicholas Tyler Cordell, 20, Cartersville were arrested on numerous charges stemming from the Dec. 16 reported robbery.

Initial reports were that last Thursday about 1:30 a.m. two men robbed an employee of the Banana Boat after they had been playing video poker machines. A large amount of cash, a shotgun, and the employee's wallet were taken during the robbery. Investigators learned that the pair left the robbery location by forcing two acquaintances to let them drive their vehicle. Investigators obtained further leads in the case which lead to the arrest. Property stolen from the Banana Boat robbery was recovered during a search warrant at 3 Lee Street later that evening. Prather and Cordell were arrested for outstanding warrants and have been in the Bartow County Jail until the new charges were brought against them.

Prather has been charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, hijacking a motor vehicle, and two counts of terroristic threats. He also is being held on a probation violation and a superior court bench warrant.
