Entering upon Earth March 26, 1942, William Raymond "Ray" Martin left the confines of Earth Dec. 31, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Ella Ruth Carlock Martin, paternal grandparents, Paul and Minnie Hall Martin and maternal grandparents, William Greene and Eliza Dixon Carlock.

He is survived by a special friend, Gary Stewart of Fairmount; two sisters, Phyllis Bearden of Villanow and JoAnn Caldwell of Lafayette; two nieces, three nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

Ray served his country with honors as a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead Hospice and Palliative Care of Kennesaw and staff of Cartersville Medical Center or their care and support.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Brewer officiating.

Burial will be in Dunnagan Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post #112. The service will conclude with a White Dove Release Ceremony.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 9 p.m. Flowers will accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St. Suite 106, Dalton, GA 30720.
