The Bartow County Library System is urging residents to “Curl Up With A Good Book ” this winter. The system’s annual winter reading program runs through March 15.
To complete the program, participants must read three books – audio books included – and attend on program, which are listed in the brochure.
Among the programs available are Bingo, recipe swaps, Curl Up with Towel Animals, movies and more.
Registration can be completed online at www.bartowlibraryonline.org or interested people can go to any library branch. For a chance to win a Snuggie, registration must be complete by Jan. 15. Completion of the program can earn readers a library coffee mug and a chance to win a Kindle or other prizes. Form must be submitted by March 15 and are available at the reference or information desks.
In addition to the winter reading program, the library system hosts numerous children’s events. Along with story times and an Afternoon Adventures for those ages 5 and up, the Cartersville branch will hold a Family Board Game Bonanza from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15.
Cartersville Public Library also will play host to a Chess Club event for those 6 and older from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, and a Girls Club gathering for ages 8 to 13. The Girls Club event will make Valentine crafts from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, and registration is required.

SAT help is available for teens through the library system. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, students can take a free SAT practice test at the Cartersville branch, but space is limited. Scores from the Feb. 12 test will be distributed during a SAT Strategies 101 event 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24. Also held at Cartersville, the meeting will offer strategies and tips for taking the SAT.
