She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, retired from Mohawk Carpet Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Troy Simpson, in March 1990; mother, Mrs. Azzie Jeanette McClure-Ward; stepfather, Mr. James Ward; four brothers, Misters Eddie James Ward, Doyle Ward, Cecil Ward and Samuel "Jitter" Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Delilah Ward and Ms. Mary Hill.
She leaves in love her family, daughter, Mrs. Iris Felicia (Billy Joe) Goodson; grandson, Mr. MacKenzie Kip Simpson of Calhoun; six sisters, Mrs. Evelyn (Clarence) Kincaid, Mrs. Mary (Terry) Foster, Mrs. Dorothy (Donald) Goode, Mrs. Anita Livsey, Mrs. Charlotte (Larry) Darby, Ms. Amanda Ward; one brother, Mr. Calvin Ward; four aunts, Mrs. Elise McClure, Mrs. Henrietta McClure, Mrs. Dollie Patterson, Mrs. Edna McClure; one uncle, Rev. Byron McClure; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mable Suggs of Akron, Ohio; special goddaughter, Ms. Erin Hyatt; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3882 Red Bud Road, Calhoun, with Pastor Daniel L. Smith, Eulogist, Pastor H.D. Caldwell, Rev. W.H. Whatley, Rev. Robert Goodsson, presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Saturday. Interment, Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
