Mrs. Margene Bishop Edwards, 86, of 1287 Sugar Valley Road, Cartersville, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at a Rome medical center.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Kingston on June 2, 1924, a daughter of the late Oscar Bishop and Effie Hubbard Bishop. She was a member of Kingston Full Gospel Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwards Sr.; two children, Charles Edwards Jr. and Jean Haney; two grandchildren, Joseph Belt and Kevin Norris Edwards; and one great-grandchild, Joseph Issac Belt. Mrs. Edwards was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law, Ovell and Brenda Edwards, Calvin Edwards Sr., and Randy Edwards, all of Cartersville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Thacker of Kingston, Sylvia and Steve Whitfield of Jasper, Teresa and Steve Freeman of Cartersville, Sharon Belt of Cartersville, and Gladys Jolly of Cartersville; one sister, Maggie Beal of Atlanta; 20 Grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. C.E. Wilkey and Rev. Lee Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include the following gentlemen, T.J. Belt, Morris Whitener, Donnie Whitener, Tommy Kincannon, Steve Freeman and Darrell Haney. Honorary pallbearers include Troy Magness and Bud Edwards Jr. Pallbearers are requested to be at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Friday, Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Rome.
