Mr. Taylor was born May 27, 1929, in Sexton, Ala., son of the late Samuel Harvey Taylor and Julia Minnie Medares Taylor. He retired from Terminal Transport and Taylor's Junk Yard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lucy Atnip Taylor; children, Deborah L. Taylor, Sandra K. and Dale Veach, Donna Raye Taylor and Rayford Lee Taylor Jr.; grandchildren, Shannon and Allison Jackson, Christy Jackson, Charity and Chad Blackmon, Isaac Williams, Candice and Ed Searce, Robert Wilson, Caleb Taylor and Dylan Taylor; four great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Paul Taylor; two brothers, William "Bill" Taylor and Jimmy "Nub" Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, from the Owen Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, in Marion County, Tenn.
Grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday.
