Mrs. Estelle R. Ponder, 92, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Marietta, April 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Boone Rogers and the late Laura Hendricks. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Ponder is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Willis Ponder; her son, Larry Aaron Ponder; her brothers, Claude and Chester Rogers; her sisters, Lucille Lovinggood, Laura Hamby, Christine Choran, Irene Tinell and Pat Farmer.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Betty Jean Ponder and Leonard and Beverly Ponder; her grandchildren, Donna Dexter, Larry Ponder, Angela Ferguson, Michelle Dudley, Russell Ponder and David Ponder; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; her sister, Pauline Hamby, Hazel Goodson and Vera May Lemons; and her brother, Hayward Rogers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Jeff Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
